Michael Lu is President and Head of Investments at Fernweh Group. Prior to Fernweh, he was Managing Partner of Quan Capital, a London-based alternative investment firm. Before Quan, Mr. Lu was a partner at Apollo Global Management. While at Apollo, he focused on private equity and distressed investments in the consumer products, retail, technology, automotive, media & telecom, and healthcare industries. In addition, Mr. Lu was responsible for c. €1 billion in secondary and distressed debt investments in technology and consumer/retail companies.
Prior to Apollo, he was a Principal at Bain Capital. During his tenure at Bain, Mr. Lu worked in Boston, New York, and London advising Bain’s North American and European funds and was involved in a number of complex corporate carve-outs and transatlantic/global transactions. In addition, Mr. Lu was a senior executive leading Bain’s Asian expansion and helped start the firm’s Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. While in Asia, he was involved in pursuing transactions across Greater China and Korea. Mr. Lu has also worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and Monitor Group (n/k/a Monitor Deloitte) and served clients in the United States and Korea.
Mr. Lu holds an AB from Dartmouth College and an MBA from INSEAD (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires).
