Fernweh Group is creating a new category – the Engaged Investor/Operator Model (EIOM). EIOM combines capital, IP, technology, domain expertise, and execution capabilities to constructively partner with management teams of companies to help them become “segment-of-one” players and generate “alpha” for all stakeholders. The initial focus is North American industrial technology. This sector is critical to a revitalization of the North American manufacturing base, which in turn is essential for equitable and sustainable growth. Fernweh is looking for talented colleagues to join the landing team for this exciting mission.

Role Overview

  • Diligence investment opportunities
  • Develop a bankable investment thesis supported by analyses and industry insight
  • Identify performance improvement and strategic potential
  • Develop and implement execution plans
  • Spend significant time embedded with portfolio company teams to help improve business processes and build necessary capabilities
  • Work with technology partners to identify and roll out the best solutions to create transparency and ensure sustainable and lasting improvement
  • Over time, support Fernweh leadership in at least one element of the long-term strategy, e.g.,
  • Own and drive knowledge of specific industry “microverticals”
  • Recruitment of colleagues and ecosystem partners
  • Help develop internal processes

Role Requirements

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree + experience in consulting, PE/investment, or industry
  • Ability to collaborate in dynamic teams to drive impact at multiple levels in an organization
  • Capability to drive independent workstreams in the context of enterprise-wide transformations and/or company diligences
  • Comfort with ambiguity and quick “clockspeed”
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability–bringing structure to ambiguity, quickly gathering relevant knowledge, applying data and analytics to drive decision making
  • Crisp communication skills
  • Ownership and growth mindset — a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure the success of oneself, colleagues, and portfolio companies
